Slipped Square Knot

Quick-release binding knot for easy untying.

The Slipped Square Knot is a quick-release variation of the Square Knot (Reef Knot). It is formed by leaving a long working end to create a bight, allowing the knot to be easily untied by pulling the short end. Ideal for temporary bindings in boating, camping, and decorative uses where rapid release is needed.

Advantages

Easy to untie with a quick pull, making it ideal for temporary bindings. Secure when properly tied.

Disadvantages

Less secure than a standard Square Knot under heavy or dynamic loads. Not suitable for critical applications.
